French dairy and cheese producer Savencia reported a 0.4% decline in first-quarter sales on a comparable basis, according to Reuters.

Cheese product sales fell 1.4% on a comparable basis, while other dairy products edged up 0.3%. The overall sales decline was attributed mainly to unfavourable exchange rates and lower butter and industrial prices.

Looking ahead, Savencia said its 2026 outlook remains uncertain and volatile, citing ongoing geopolitical and economic risks. The company warned that rising energy costs and inflation could weigh on consumption across Europe.

Despite the challenging environment, Savencia said it will maintain its specialty strategy and continue investing in business complementarity and brand growth.
