Smithfield suspends US federal campaign donations

Smithfield Foods has suspended federal campaign donations after the US Capitol riot on 6 December.

Reuters reports that meat processing giant Smithfield Foods Inc, said on 11 January that it had paused all federal campaign contributions until more facts are known about last week’s riot at the US Capitol.

The Smithfield, Virginia-based company, which is owned by Hong Kong-listed WH Group Ltd, said it was "horrified by the recent violence at the US Capitol."
