AHDB: Maximising Environment for High Yielding Cow Meetings
UK - A series of practical workshops aimed at farmers with housed herds of high yielding cows can help optimise the environment and maximise herd performance. In high yielding, all year round calving herds, marginal gains can have a big impact on the bottom line and the limiting factor is often the environment in which cows can express their potential.
These practical on farm session, limited to a maximum of 25 attendees will look at maximising performance by making improvements to ventilation, feed space and cow comfort.
By the end of the workshops, attendees will learn how to:
- Assess their own building to identify the restrictions in ventilation, feed space and cow comfort,
- Maximise productivity from their current building,
- Avoid the pitfalls and impacts of new building designs,
- The cost/benefit of building modification.
