China’s Live Cattle Trade Opens with 3,200 Australian Angus

CHINA – A shipment of 3,200 Angus breeding heifers have been sent to north eastern China in the wake of a live trade agreement signed between China and Australia.

The cattle were scheduled for arrival in Shengyang City, where they will be used to diversify local cattle genetics after a quarantine period.

The batch was shipped from the port of Adelaide, docking in Songyu Warf after 15 days at sea.

Government sources said the breed was noted in China for superior marbled meat, early finishing and higher finishing weight, typically 300 kilo more than local breeds.
