Daily Dairy Trading: Class III Milk Lifts Again, Wednesday

US – Class III milk lifted again on Wednesday, closing up to $19.23 - 64 cents above Monday’s close.

This left the price 37 cents higher that Tuesday’s close of $18.86.

Class IV milk closed unchanged on $21.35 after lifting eleven cents on Tuesday.

In the spot markets, butter closed unchanged on $1.6400 after registering nine trades, the only traded product on the spot market yesterday and for the week. This took the week’s Butter trades to 19.

The Agricultural Marketing Service at the US Department of Agriculture also reported no change for Nonfat Dry Milk Extra Grade which saw no buyer interest on $1.9950.

However, Grade A standard Nonfat Dry Milk lifted above $2 per pound after changing 1.25 cents higher, settling on $2.0300.

Bidding also closed the gap in Cheddar prices with Barrels leading the spot market gains as Blocks also lifted 2.75 cents. This left Blocks on $1.9475 as Barrels closed 7.25 cents higher at $1.8850.

Other futures commodities held ground after making gains earlier in the week. December Cheese closed 3.30 cents higher on $1.8880.

Whey went unchanged on $0.5950 and Butter edged higher, finishing on $1.6025.

The only December losses were posted by Nonfat Dry Milk which closed down from $1.9398 to $1.9380.
