This follows the decision to review the EU beef ban initially imposed due to bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) fears dating back to the late 1990’s.

The Association commended the United States Department of Agriculture in showing the US commitment to global exports and said the decision is positive for boosting US beef abroad.

“This is great news for the US cattle industry,” said NCBA President, Scott George, adding the change is, ‘integral to our efforts to further international trade’.

“With these import regulations set, I am confident we will be able to expand our market access and meet international demand for high quality U.S. beef. We greatly appreciate the work of USDA Secretary Vilsack and the entire team at USDA/APHIS.”
