The National Farmers Union run programme includes financial skills, marketing strategy, public speaking and planning.

Individuals at the session are selected from cattle ranchers, grain farmers and urban growers from Maryland to Colorado, Minnesota to Montana and will be educated along the yearlong programme.

National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson said that the course is important because ‘it has become increasingly difficult for beginning farmers to succeed’.

“This is why programmes like the BFI are so important, because it gives beginning farmers an opportunity to learn some of the important skills that they will need as farmers and ranchers.”

The institute is sponsored in part by Farm Credit, CHS Foundation, FUI Foundation and the NFU Foundation. More information can be found at www.NFU.org/education.
