The outbreak was reported on Zambeef Farm, Mpongwe, Copperbelt.

Of the 500 cattle susceptible, eight cases were reported, leading to three deaths and 497 cattle to be destroyed.

The source of the outbreak is thought to be due to the movement of animals which were imported from a neighbouring country and were under quarantine.
