OIE Ratify Change to BSE Status
COSTA RICA – Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) risk status has been officially changed to ‘controlled risk’ status.National efforts to limit the spread of the disease have been recognised by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE). The decision has been welcomed by Costa Rican ministers.
The decision means Costa Rica will enjoy the same health status as Spain, France and Germany.
Director of Animal Health for the country, German Rojas said: “It is great testament to the teamwork of the National Animal Health Service and will be important to the livestock and processing sectors.”
