Health and biosecurity protocols represent the final hurdle in meeting Chinese food import laws.

El Neuvo Diario reports confidence from officials who are in advanced negotiations and say that the Chinese market is ready to accept Cost Rican produce.

Sanitary sanctions also apply on meat and fruit products.

Relations between the two countries are healthy and the Costa Rican economy is showing great 'dynamism'.
