As well as upgrading the site, Meadow Foods plans to increase the capacity of packed cream to enable them to produce enough to satisfy the whole UK market.

Initially, £1.3million will be invested to fully automate and double the cultured plants capacity, decreasing waste while increasing efficiency. This section of the investment is due to be completed by the end of February.

New mix tanks, inline standardisation and additional on-site storage will be invested in with £1.8 million. This investment will be aimed at improving product quality and expanding packed cream production.

The former Nene Valley Foods site, purchased in 2009, processes and packs fresh cream, milks and other products for food manufacturers. Meadow Foods has put this investment down to the 2012 performance when the company saw a 13 per cent increase in turnover and a 5 per cent increase in operating profit.
