In their letter dated July 15, 2009, the group stressed that America's dairy producers are facing the worst prices in nearly 30 years -- a situation which jeopardizes the long term stability of the industry and the livelihood of thousands of rural communities, says a Dairy Business Association report.

According to the association, the group urges Secretary Vilsack to use bold and swift action to temporarily increase the Dairy Price Support program products purchases by a significant level - a move needed to begin to restore farm level prices and help restore producers' ability to produce basic cash flow for their operations.
