Chemical in Milk Combats Heart Disease, Diabetes
IRELAND - A chemical found in milk can combat a disorder that increases risk of heart disease and diabetes, a new study says.

The disorder, called metabolic syndrome, is a combination of high blood pressure, high glucose and obesity that increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and diabetes, reports IrishSun.
According to the news organisation, researchers from Victoria's Department of Primary Industries and MG Nutritionals found that a compound, known as Regeneration Inducing Peptide for Tissues and Cells (RIPTAC), when given daily to mice, caused them not only to build more muscle but also want to exercise.
The findings also showed an increase in muscle in mice not given exercise, according to a Victoria government release.
A good muscle to fat ratio is an important factor in reducing the incidence of metabolic syndrome and greater muscle mass is also a factor in burning fat.
