Veneman: Japanese beef market won't budge

WASHINGTON — Agriculture Secretary Ann M. Veneman on Tuesday predicted a bright future for U.S. agriculture but she noted no progress in negotiations to reopen the Japanese market to U.S. beef.
In a speech at the National Press Club, Veneman predicted technology and trade agreements would increase the safety and reliability of the U.S. food supply while opening new markets to U.S. products.
