US Dairy Products Statistics
US - The USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) comment on the dairy product production such as cheese, butter etc. in their monthly Dairy Products Report.
September 2006 Highlights
Total cheese output (excluding cottage cheese) was 785 million pounds, 5.3 percent above September 2005 but 0.5 percent below August 2006.Italian type cheese production totaled 324 million pounds, 4.3 percent above September 2005 but 2.8 percent below August 2006.
American type cheese production totaled 325 million pounds, 7.7 percent above September 2005 and 1.9 percent above August 2006.
Butter production production was 103 million pounds, 2.0 percent above September 2005 and 16.3 percent above August 2006.
Frozen dessert: (comparisons with September 2005)
Ice cream, Regular (hard) --- 72.7 million gallons, up 0.5 percent.
Ice cream, Lowfat (total) --- 30.8 million gallons, up 0.3 percent.
Ice cream, Nonfat (hard) --- 1.02 million gallons, down 36.8 percent.
Sherbet (hard) --- 3.85 million gallons, down 22.3 percent.
Frozen Yogurt (total) --- 5.35 million gallons, down 1.9 percent.
Nonfat dry milk for human food: (compared with September 2005) --- 64.9 million pounds, down 8.5 percent.
Dry whey products: (comparisons with September 2005)
Dry whey, human --- 82.4 million pounds, up 6.6 percent.
Dry whey, animal --- 3.96 million pounds, down 40.3 percent.
Dry whey, total --- 86.4 million pounds, up 2.9 percent.
