UK - A free hands-on event looking at the cost and control of lameness in herds is being held for West Midlands cattle farmers and could add pounds to their businesses.

Farm Manager Bryan Wilson, vet Stephen Woodcock and hoof trimmer David Thornby will select cattle and give a practical demonstration on hoof care and trimming to reduce lameness issues. Delegates will have the opportunity to inspect cattle and decide a treatment.
There will also be a presentation on the causes of lameness and an explanation of how to control it. An open discussion will follow where farmers can ask questions.
EBLEX Regional Development Manager, Phil Hadley, said: “Lameness in cattle herds is an increasing problem and creates both health and welfare issues. Lameness is often poorly controlled due to cross-infection and mis-diagnosis. This event will highlight the key issues in its control.”
The event will take place from 11.00am to 2.30pm on Thursday 9th November in Haughton, Staffordshire.
