Suppliers to the brand will receive a supplement, which is dependent on the current market.

The new line is a result of the retail chain EUROSPAR upgrading its beef range for Danish cattle.

Danish Crown will be supplying EUROSPAR’s 100 stores and for the producers to gain the supplement they will have to sign a contract guaranteeing to meet higher welfare standards.

The standards include a requirement for every animal to have a passport and that the beef comes from cattle grass-fed during the summer and loose-housed in the winter.

The requirements also ban the use of any additives in the feed and also call for higher welfare standards on the farm and during transport.

The animals also have to meet strict conformation classification, although there are no special breed requirements.
