This is down about 40,000 for the same period last year.

Industry associations are disappointed with the numbers, saying this a lot less than they had hoped for.

Last year, Indonesia announced that they would cut Australian cattle permits in a bid to increase the country's self-sufficiency.

In June last year the Australian government suspended live exports to Indonesia for a month, after undercover footage showed animals being mistreated in Indonesian abattoirs.
