US flags Canada dairy dispute ahead of USMCA talks
Greer says no market changes, issues may face enforcement
US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said on Wednesday that Canada has made no commitments to alter its largely closed dairy market and disputes over the sector will need to be resolved in negotiations over the US-Mexico-Canada trade agreement or through enforcement actions, reported Reuters.
Greer told the US House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee that in USMCA negotiations, both Canada and Mexico will need to take steps to protect their economies from subsidised products from other regions, including autos from China.
