By: The United States would have announced last week a support package for farmers stung by trade disputes that included direct subsidies, if it weren't for a government shutdown, Reuters reported, citing a Fox News interview with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
"We would have announced an AG program to bridge our farmers until the next season, and that will be through direct subsidies... because it's important that our farmers get credit," he told the 'Ingraham Angle' program.
He also said he expected Chinese buyers, which have deserted US soybean farmers, to return at the end of the season.
