Fonterra shares halted on NZX after system error
Trading to resume Monday; fund units unaffected
New Zealand stock exchange regulator said on Friday dairy producer Fonterra's ordinary shares would be unavailable for trading on the NZX Main Board due to a system error, reported Reuters.
NZ RegCo, an independently governed entity which performs the exchange's regulatory functions, said Fonterra's ordinary shares are currently placed on a halt status for the duration of the day. The dairy producer's shares would be available in the trading system from Monday, it said.
NZ RegCo did not provide any further details about the system error, and did not immediately respond to a request for additional information.
Fonterra confirmed the trading halt on its ordinary shares on the day in an emailed response to Reuters. It added that Fonterra Shareholders' Fund units are unaffected and can be traded.
