In the fourth quarter of 2025, the average price of agricultural output received by EU farmers at the farm gate decreased by 1.9% compared with the same quarter in 2024, according to agricultural price indices published by Eurostat. This followed price increases in each of the previous three quarters of 2025.

By contrast, the average price of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture — inputs not related to investment, such as energy, fertilisers and feedingstuffs — was unchanged compared with the fourth quarter of 2024, having remained relatively stable throughout 2025.

Output prices decreased in 15 EU countries, with the sharpest declines in Belgium (-12.9%), Lithuania (-8.2%) and Germany (-6.0%). Prices increased in the remaining 12 countries, most notably in Ireland (+6.8%), Slovenia (+5.6%) and Malta (+4.2%).

For input prices, declines were recorded in 11 EU countries, led by Cyprus (-2.6%), Belgium (-2.1%) and Sweden (-2.0%), while the sharpest increases were in Lithuania (+4.2%), Ireland (+3.3%) and Romania (+2.5%).

At EU level, milk and cereal prices fell by 4.1% and 8.9% respectively in Q4 2025. Among inputs, fertiliser and soil improver prices rose 7.9%, while feed stuffs and energy declined by 2.7% and 1.7% respectively.
