Brazil wins approval to ship beef to Guatemala
Lula government marks 500th new agribusiness market opened
Brazil has received authorisation to export beef to Guatemala, marking the 500th new market opportunity opened for Brazilian agribusiness since President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva took office in January 2023, reported Reuters.
The opening creates new opportunities for Brazil in a strategic regional market, with potential for expansion, Brazil's Agriculture Ministry said on Tuesday.
According to the ministry's statement, Lula had initially set a goal of opening 200 new markets.
"This demonstrates the efforts of an entire team and the confidence that countries have in Brazilian health standards," Minister Carlos Favaro said in the statement.
