Brazil beef production climbs to series high
Female slaughter offsets fewer males
Brazil beef production totalled 8.1 million tonnes through the third quarter of 2025, up 4.8% or 376,000 tonnes from the same period last year, marking the strongest result in the IBGE series dating back to 1997, according to Cepea.
This output was achieved with the slaughter of 31.757 million cattle, a 5.9% increase year over year. Female slaughter rose by 2.23 million head, or 22.7%, more than offsetting a 3.8% decline in male slaughter. As a result, females accounted for 48% of total slaughter through September, up from 44% a year earlier.
