Prion Problem

Olivier Andréoletti, a prion specialist at the National Veterinary School in Toulouse, France, reported in the medical journal Nature Medicine that he and his colleagues isolated a prion from the muscle of sheep infected with scrapie. Prions are normal proteins that for some reason have become improperly folded or mis-shapen. Some scientists theorize that the prion, which causes scrapie mutated forming the prion that causes BSE.
