House members call for coordinated mad cow research

WASHINGTON - Federally funded research into mad cow disease is scattered among several agencies and universities and should be better coordinated, members of Congress said Wednesday. They are asking Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson to create and lead a task force to oversee a more organized effort.
