Colorado lab to help with mad cow testing

COLORADO - A Fort Collins laboratory is among a dozen nationwide that are part of a $70 million federal program intended to quickly determine whether cattle samples have mad cow disease. The work being done at Colorado State University's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and elsewhere is geared toward identifying the disease in the United States rather than ensuring the safety of the nation's beef, agricultural officials said.
