BSE testing routine announced

UK - The government has launched a public consultation on the proposed legislation which will set out the legal requirements of a robust testing regime to replace the Over Thirty Months Rule. DEFRA has also initiated trials in six abattoirs across Great Britain to ensure that the proposed testing regime is robust. Introducing the new proposals junior DEFRA minister Larry Whitty said: "Good progress is being made towards setting up a robust testing regime, which will continue to help protect consumers from BSE risk.
