U.S. BSE experts urge early open of Japan market

WASHINGTON - USDA officials and private-sector experts on Wednesday again urged Japan to hasten moves to lift its 16-month ban on American beef, imposed after the discovery of a U.S. case of mad cow disease. The head of the delegation said, however, that the team did not discuss a timeframe for the possible restart of trade in meetings with Japanese policy-makers during the three-day visit.
