Brazil Reports Rise in May Beef Exports
BRAZIL - Brazilian beef exports rose 35 percent in May, and 18 percent from January to May, compared to the same month last year, according to the Brazilian Meat Packers Association (Abrafrigo).Abrafrigo reports that results for fresh/processed beef exports were the strongest in May 2019 as figures stood at 150,200 tons, compared to 111,500 tons during the same month last year. Revenues also reportedly rose 24 percent to US $573.7 million against US $462.9 million in May 2018.
Till May 2019, 694,300 tons of beef were exported compared to 590,000 tons during the same period a year ago. An 8 percent rise in revenue has been reported from US $2.39 billion in 2018 to US $2.59 billion this year.
