Mother Dairy Raises Milk Rate by Up to Rs 3/litre

INDIA - Four days after market leader Amul announced a two-rupee increase in the price of milk, Mother Dairy said it has raised prices by up to Rs 3 per litre from Sunday.

Mother Dairy's cow milk is three rupees costlier. It will now sell for Rs 45 per litre up from Rs 42, while a half litre pack is revised to Rs 23 as against Rs 21. The premium variety of full cream milk goes up by a rupee to Rs 55 per litre, up from Rs 54, and Rs 28 for 500 ml over Rs 27 earlier. Full cream milk has risen from Rs 52 to Rs 53 for a litre and Rs 26 to Rs 27 for half litre.

A press release issued by the dairy company said, "Milk procurement prices have been continuously on the rise for the last 3-4 months due to increase in feed and fodder cost by 15-20 percent and labour cost. Mother Dairy passes close to 80 percent of the sales realization to the farmers."
