A total of 589 cattle farms in Fiji have been identified to have TB, The Fiji Times reports.

Fiji’s Minister for Agriculture Inia Seruiratu said for the last four years, the incidence of TB had been falling until June this year.

He said an increase in TB cases was identified in July and August this year because of tests carried out on non-compliant farms.

Between January and mid-August, the ministry had recorded 1239 cases of TB.

Mr Seruiratu said the ministry would increase its testing capacity from next month.
