First nvCJD in Turkey confirmed

TURKEY - A 58-year-old woman was confirmed on Monday as the first Turk to contract a new variant of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (nvCJD), passed on from meat tainted with Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE, or mad-cow disease).
