The visit aims to enable an agreement to take place to allow trade of bone-in beef products between the two countries.

The trip is part of a wider trade negotiation for the purchase and sale of fresh beef.

According to the Secretariat of International Agribusiness Relations, the expectation is for an increase of $900 million per year in Brazilian exports to the US.

"To conquer the American market, as well as European, is a quality seal in international trade," said MAPA minister Luis Rangel.

In November 2015, a US veterinary technical mission visited Brazil for 11 days and inspected slaughterhouses in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Mato Grosso do Sul and São Paulo.

"Veterinarians were impressed with what they saw. Now the Brazilian technicians will visit the US plants for the recognition of their production systems," said Mr Rangel.

The agreement is expected to be concluded by 28 July, and the first shipments should take place three months after an agreement is signed.
