Deadweight of UK Cows and Primestock Declining

UK – Prime cattle prices were back last week in Northern Ireland and across Great Britain, with cull cows coming under “significant pressure”, reports the Livestock and Meat Commission for Northern Ireland.

Average Northern Irish steers were back 4.1 pence per kilo to 320.5 pence per kilo with R3 steers back 6.2 pence to 329.1 pence per kilo.

Great British R3 steers were back 1.2 pence to 354.1 pence per kilo with average prices slipping 2.2 pence to 346.5p/kilo. R3 heifers were back 3 pence, widening the gap with Northern Ireland, putting the differential with at 22.5 pence per kilo.

Cull cow prices were down 12.6 pence in Northern Ireland to 236.8 pence per kilo and back 4.7 pence per kilo to 234.5 pence per kilo.
