Czechs Pressure Hogan to Solve Dairy Market Crisis

CZECH REPUBLIC – Agriculture minister Marian Jurecka has leant on the European Commission to address the milk market crisis.

Earlier this week she called on Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan to increase intervention prices, particularly in member states where prices of raw milk were below the EU average.

A joint delegation consisting of Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Belgium, Hungary, Slovenia and Slovakia has joined Czech calls for further action from the EU.

Minister Jurecka acknowledged milk quota termination, Russian trade sanctions and a milk surplus as all factors impacting milk prices.
