China-Brazil Strengthen Agricultural Relations

CHINA - China and Brazil deepened agricultural relations last week in a meeting between Vice Minister Chen Xiaohua and the Brazilian International Relations Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply Tatiana Lipovetskaia Palermo.

The two sides have been developing closer relations over recent years and the current meeting has laid down the foundation for a state visit to Brazil by Premier Li Keqiang and Minister Han Changfu.

The meeting between Vice Minister Chen and Ms Palermo also helped to establish the China-Brazil Joint Committee on Agriculture and its working groups to create conditions for future cooperation and also to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the veterinary field and advance joint efforts related with sanitary and phytosanitary agreement between the two countries.

Ms. Palermo said that China is one of the most important agricultural trade partners for Brazil.

She hoped that the two sides could strengthen communication and coordination in biotechnology and agricultural trade and further deepen the bilateral agricultural cooperation.
