A total of 30 farms have been confirmed with the virus this month since the last update, reports the World Organisation for Animal Health.

The bulk of the reports have come from Gorj, where 22 farms have reported infections in sheep and cattle populations, including one cow death.

Further east, Prohova has had one outbreak, with an isolated case in a small scale holding.

Bacau has had 12 animals confirmed with the virus across seven holdings, mainly in the north, putting sheep, cattle and goat herds at risk.
