Howell Richards, who has established a herd of more than 2250 dairy cows at his farm near Carmarthen, has more than 30 years’ experience of the agricultural industry, with significant expertise in the livestock sector.

Over the past few years Mr Richards has worked for Wynnstay as a feeds consultant, and has been involved with developing the group’s strategic initiatives in feeds across South Wales.

He has also worked for Kemira Fertilisers, promoting grassland and arable products, BP Nutrition, the MMB and has experience across all agricultural sectors.

He is an active voice within the UK dairy industry, speaking at industry events and mentoring young entrants into farming and is also a member of the BBC Rural Affairs Committee.

Jim McCarthy, Non-executive Chairman of Wynnstay, said the Group was delighted Mr Richards was joining the group’s board.

“His extensive farming experience and well-developed understanding of the challenges facing dairy and livestock farmers today are valuable assets,” he said.

“His appointment further strengthens the Group as we move forward with our expansion plans.”
