Boeuf de Charolles has had its application approved for protected destination of origin status by the European Commission.

Last week, beef from the Charolais breed reared in the region of the town of Charolles, on the eastern edge of the Massif Central, joined the protected list of over 1,200 food products.

According to the EC, meat labelled Boeuf de Charolles must be reared by ‘traditional farming practices that respect natural cycles’.
