Daily Dairy Trading: Futures Close Lower, Tuesday

US – Milk futures slipped back on Tuesday as the Spot market was static, reports the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

All 2014 Class III milk contracts posted losses. March finished 17 cents lower at $23.32/cwt and April slipped 10 cents to $23.02.

Class IV milk closed unchanged to July, which finished trading 10 cents lower at $20.90.

The March contract closed on $23.55.

Cheese also closed lower with March finishing on $2.279 and April at $2.239.

March and April Butter futures both closed higher as Butter presented a more mixed picture.

March milk powder held at $208.575 while all others up to the latest November contract slipped.

Spot floor traders were limited to two bids for Butter at $1.9000. This still higher than last week’s average.
