Hardy Buffalo Herd is 'Production Advantage' For Colombia

COLOMBIA – Data shows Colombia has a productive advantage as the third Buffalo farming country in South America, says the Colombian Livestock Federation.

New National Bureau of Statistics figures have put Colombia ahead of Argentina and Venezuela with a Buffalo population of 300,000.

Animal production expert, José Luis Borbon, said Buffalo are well adapted to swampy areas where other species often fail.

Current figures have the Brazilian buffalo herd at 3 million head and India’s at 94 million livestock.
