Farmers To Receive Help With Dairy Herd Genetics

UK - Independently choosing the genetic path to maximise your own herd is to be discussed at a DairyCo open meeting in Whitland on 28 January.

Andy Dodd, DairyCo Breeding technical specialist, will be discussing how to use Profitable Lifetime Index and Genomics when making breeding decisions later this month.

Andy will also discuss how to use your Herd Genetic Report to ensure your herd’s strengths and weakness are taken into account when selecting bulls, the pros and cons of crossbreeding and what the future holds for genetics and DairyCo's Breeding+ Programme.

“It is important people understand how the PLI and genomics can assists them in taking their own decisions to maximise the potential of their herd,” says Andy.
