Daily Dairy Trading: Little Spot Market Change After Wednesday's Big Gains

US – Wednesday’s gains finished unchanged in the spot market after restrained bidding which saw mild interest in Butter only, which ended 2.5 cents higher.

Cheddar prices stood still following gains over ten cents yesterday, states the Agricultural Marketing Service report from the US Department of Agriculture. 

Butter was reported as finalising on $1.6750.

Cheddar Blocks remain at the lofty position of $2.2000 per pound but no trades have been reported for the week. Barrels likewise are high, only showing two trades.

The margin between Cheddar commodities is currently four cents with Blocks on top.

Class III and IV January Milk made gains again on Thursday, continuing consecutive gains since Monday.

Class III edged 3 cents higher to $20.42 and Class IV closed up 8 cents at $21.94.

January Cheese fell back but stayed above $2 per pound. Whey made small gains and broke above $0.59 for the first time this week at $0.5950.

Nonfat Dry Milk closed at $2.0163 and Butter managed $1.6148. Both edged slightly higher.
