Danish Crown is already in a strong position when it comes to creating value throughout the entire value chain. In establishing DC Ingredients, the group brings together the activities involved in extracting ingredients and by-products, for example those used in the food industry.

Here, the worldwide casings company DAT-Schaub is already a key player. The newly established company DC Ingredients is involved, among other things, in using blood from the slaughter process and producing ingredients for mink feed and hydrolysed proteins, and it is this company that Mr Hansen will be heading.

Mr Hansen, 56, has more than 30 years of experience from the sale and production of ingredients for the food industry – including a background in leading positions in Novo Nordisk, Chr. Hansen, the German company GELITA and the biotech enterprise Cleanfield.

Jan Roelsgaard, Chairman of the Board of DC Ingredients and CEO of DAT-Schaub, said: "Thanks to his long-standing experience, Jan Boeg Hansen is the obvious choice, and someone who can develop a key business area in the group.

"Given the Danish cost structure, it has been crucially important for some years that we excel at deriving value from the entire product.

"Not just just pork chops and joints of bacon, but also blood, casings and other by-products. With the establishment of DC Ingredients, our strategic focus is now on the area."
