Daily Dairy Trading: Prices Build on Week's Gains, Thursday
US – There was no let-up in dairy price gains yesterday as Butter and Cheddar was bidded higher, leaving Barrels on $1.9300.This follows major gains through the week, reported by the Agricultural Marketing Service.
Blocks and Barrels closed 1.25 cents and four cents higher respectively, although no trades were reported in the spot market.
A close of over $1.90 was reported for both Cheddars which closed on $1.9850 (Blocks) and $1.9300 (Barrels), extending the margin over last week’s prices.
A cent lift from the week’s position was reported by Butter to take the close price to $1.5600.
In the futures market, Butter led gains, up almost three cents to $1.6230.
January Milk also continued gains, up 23 cents to $19.45 for Class III and up 11 cents to $21.89 for Class IV.
Cheese and Whey both closed unchanged on $1.8930 and $0.5850 respectively.
