Greek Heifer Prices Show Biggest Lift
EU – Greek heifer prices rose 9.5 p/kilo earlier this month, the biggest increase within Europe.This took the Greek average to 405 c/kg, sitting third in the table, while French and Italian and values dropped, say Livestock and Meat Commission analysts.
Official values reported to the European Commission Dressing Specification for the week ending 10 November showed that Spanish and Irish prices were adrift of the higher values, but bridged the gap, stepping up 8.1 cents and 8.3 cents respectively.
French heifers fell 2c/kg to 429p/kg and Italian values dropped 10.8 cents to 417.9c/kg.
Great Britain, with an average price of 464cents/kilo, stayed top of the EU heifer table.
Denmark, averaging 356.5c/kilo, and the Czech Republic, down to 271.8c/kilo, both saw 15 cent losses in the average prices.
