Russian Authority Ups Beef and Pork Access
BRAZIL – The number of meat processing plants able to ship beef or pork to Russia reached six on Wednesday.JBS, Minerva and Osi are amongst the list of processors deemed suitable for Russian exports, the Russian sanitary service, Rosselkhoznadzor announced this week.
The ratification reverses ‘temporary restrictions’ imposed at various times over the last four years and adds to the three plants granted trading access last week.
The JBS plant, in Rondonia, had a block placed in 2009. Plants belonging to Mataboi and Osi were restricted in 2011.
Russia is the main buyer of Brazilian refrigerated beef, a figure which lifted 6.2 per cent between January and October this year on the same period in 2012.
