The study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on Monday, based on 12,700 observations from eight monitoring towers, the study claims to offer the most exact mapping of US methane output.

Anthropogenic emissions of methane in the United States includes reconstructions of wind and weather patterns to explain methane collected by aircraft in 2007 and 2008.
