Bluetongue Hits Tuscany Cattle Farm
ITALY – A Bluetongue virus outbreak has been confirmed on a cattle farm in Massa, Tuscany, according to World Animal Health Organisation reports.

Twenty six cattle were classed as susceptible from the disease risk, as of 14 October, which has primarily hit sheep farms.
The notification has confirmed other outbreaks in the Roma area of Lazio and has reported a northwards disease spread since the first outbreak, reported as being on 26 September.
Initially, the outbreak started on a sheep farm in in Viterbo, in the municipality of Lazio.
Over 300 sheep were put at risk from the outbreak, which was meeted by a raft of zoning, screening and movement control measures.
Five outbreaks have been confirmed since then, with 38 cases on sheep holdings and a total of 2321 sheep susceptible.
